What We Treat

ProNuLook

ProNuLook is the clinic's repair protocol for skin that has lost its hydration and its barrier, and shows it on the surface as dullness, roughness and easy irritation. It combines high-dose hyaluronic acid, polynucleotides and a cocktail of biostimulators, working on the foundation of the skin first so the visible problems above it have a reason to improve. Like every treatment here, it is performed by Dr Ong, and the exact mix is decided at assessment, for the skin in front of him.

Repair the foundation. The surface follows.

What it is

ProNuLook is a multi-step protocol built around three things working together. High-dose hyaluronic acid, a molecule the skin already makes, pulls water back into skin that has stopped holding it. Polynucleotides, a regenerative ingredient with an established place in aesthetic practice, support the skin's own repair processes and help rebuild the barrier. And a cocktail of biostimulators prompts the skin to produce its own collagen over the months that follow, so part of the improvement is built from your own tissue rather than sitting in the skin as product.

It helps to be clear about what the name means. ProNuLook is a protocol of this clinic, a considered combination, rather than a single branded product off a shelf. The exact mix, the proportions and the number of sessions are set by Dr Ong for the skin in front of him, which is why two patients on the same protocol rarely receive identical treatment.

What it does well

It is built for dry, depleted skin, the kind where the barrier is no longer holding water and the surface shows it. The barrier is the skin's outermost working layer, and its job is to keep water in and irritants out. When it fails, water escapes faster than the skin can replace it, and the surface turns dull and rough, feels tight after washing, and reacts to products that never used to be a problem.

By repairing that foundation first, the protocol then helps with the problems that sit on top of a weak barrier: uneven texture, enlarged pores, the look of scarring, and some forms of pigmentation. Skin that holds water reflects light evenly and recovers quickly, which is most of what people mean when they say skin looks healthy.

The aim, in one line, is to give the surface something healthy to improve from. Treatments aimed at texture or pigment tend to work better on a repaired base, which is why this protocol often comes early in a longer plan rather than last.

What it does not do, and who it is not for

ProNuLook is a skin quality and repair protocol. It does not lift laxity, does not fill lost volume, and is not the primary treatment for deep acne scarring or stubborn pigmentation. Where one of those is the main concern, it is treated directly, with a laser or another dedicated approach, and ProNuLook supports the result rather than leads it.

It is also the wrong choice for a patient whose skin is already healthy and simply wants a finish; that is ReGlow's territory, and the assessment will say so. Nor is it a fast treatment. The hydration side responds sooner, but the collagen work develops over months, so anyone hoping for a different face by the weekend is holding the wrong expectation, and we would rather say that at the consultation than after.

Some situations rule it out on ordinary medical grounds. An active infection or a significant flare of inflammation at the treatment area means waiting until the skin has settled. A known allergy to any component of the protocol rules that component out, which is one of the things the consultation checks. And like most elective aesthetic treatments, it is deferred during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Our view

A lot of texture, pore and pigment complaints are barrier and hydration problems wearing a different costume. Skin that cannot hold water looks rough, reflects light poorly, and recovers slowly, which makes everything above it worse. Patients arrive asking for a laser, and what the examination finds is skin that is thirsty and undefended. ProNuLook treats that base layer directly.

Life in the Klang Valley does the barrier no favours. Days spent moving between outdoor heat and cold, dry air conditioning stress the skin's water balance in both directions, and we see the results of that cycle in clinic all the time. It is part of why repair work has earned a standing place here rather than being an add-on.

ProNuLook is often combined with a Hydrafacial or skinboosters, because combination usually beats any single step, and because the honest answer to a skin complaint tends to have more than one part. The reverse also holds: some barriers recover with disciplined skincare and time, and when that is the finding, that is the recommendation.

Practical notes

ProNuLook is usually a single session, repeated about every three to four months to hold the effect. There is no fixed course decided in advance; Dr Ong confirms the timing for your skin at the consultation and adjusts it as the skin improves.

Expect the change in stages. Hydration and comfort tend to respond first, while the collagen component builds quietly over the months that follow, so the skin you have at month three is usually better evidence than the skin you have at day three. Sun protection and sensible skincare between sessions protect the work.

Common questions

What is ProNuLook for?

Dry, depleted skin where the barrier is no longer holding water and the surface looks dull, rough or easily irritated as a result. It combines high-dose hyaluronic acid, polynucleotides and biostimulators to repair that foundation first, so the visible problems above it have a reason to improve.

What are polynucleotides?

Polynucleotides are purified DNA fragments, in aesthetic practice typically derived from salmon, used to support the skin's own repair processes and its barrier. They have an established place in regenerative skin treatment. Whether they belong in your protocol is decided at the consultation, based on what your skin actually needs.

How is ProNuLook different from a skinbooster?

A skinbooster delivers hydration and skin quality improvement across an area. ProNuLook is a broader repair protocol that layers high-dose hyaluronic acid with polynucleotides and biostimulators, aimed at skin whose barrier needs rebuilding rather than skin that needs a top-up. The two are related, and they are sometimes used together in one plan.

How often is ProNuLook done, and how long does it last?

Usually a single session, repeated about every three to four months to hold the effect. Skin is living tissue and keeps ageing and losing water, so maintenance is part of the design rather than a sign the treatment failed. Dr Ong confirms the interval for your skin at the consultation.

How soon will I see results?

In stages. The hydration side tends to show first, as the skin starts holding water again, while the collagen work from the biostimulators develops over the months that follow. Judge it at three months, not three days.

Can ProNuLook fix acne scars or pigmentation?

Not as a primary treatment. Deep scarring and stubborn pigmentation need a dedicated approach, often a laser, chosen after the problem is diagnosed. What ProNuLook does is repair the base those treatments work on, and some texture and pigment changes that ride on a weak barrier do improve as the barrier recovers.

Who should not have ProNuLook?

Anyone whose main concern is laxity, lost volume, deep scarring or stubborn pigment, because those call for different tools. It is also deferred during pregnancy and breastfeeding, and where there is an active infection or significant inflammation at the treatment area. The consultation exists to catch exactly these situations.

Can it be combined with other treatments like Hydrafacial?

Yes, and it often is. A Hydrafacial or skinboosters pair naturally with it, since combination usually beats any single step. The order matters, though: repair generally comes before refinement, and Dr Ong sequences the plan so each step has something healthy to build on.
