Good Diet Bad Diet

Back then when fat was the enemy, people were crazy cutting fats out of their diet. But little did they know, while cutting out bad fats, they were also cutting out the good fats, which helps to improve our health. From liquid diets to the low-fat craze and no carb/low carb mania, several different diets have been embraced and then abandoned over the past few decades. Highly restrictive fad diets have failed for obvious reasons, people end up binging on the food they were “not supposed to eat”.

Diet shouldn't have an expiry date. If you feel like having a pizza, have it in moderation instead of completely avoiding it, which will lead to binging later on when the diet was "over".

The majority of us have the habit of putting foods into two very black and white categories: good or bad. This leads to many giving up on a healthy diet because it was seen require to give up favorite foods.

The best diet for you is the one nutritionists/dietitians have been recommending for years. You’ve got to be moderate in your fat and carbohydrate intake, and maintaining a healthy body weight. It’s not a sexy message, but it is a message that has been consistent to yield the best results that will stay with you for a lifetime. Having a healthy lifestyle, is a life long process. It is not, and never meant to be on for only a short period of time.

Here’s a few points to fully embrace a balanced healthy diet approach:

  • Get rid of that good/bad food mentality!
  • Focus more on getting proper nutrients from real food instead of supplements, pills and processed foods (Think foods that can be found in nature: rice, fish, beans and vegetables instead of crackers, protein bars or diet coke)
  • Aim for a variety of good food choices throughout the week. Your body is naturally designed to want a variety of foods because different foods contains different nutrients. By eating a variety of foods, you have a higher chances of fulfilling your body’s nutrient requirements.

A balanced healthy diet is made possible by just a few key things: moderation, portion size control, and physical activity. It allows the individual much more of a range for their food choice and the eliminated stress of constantly analyzing and scrutinizing what they eat.
